Employment & Enterprise
Community Business and Work
This is a new project which will engage with local people, particularly the hard to reach, to enable them to access key services and take opportunities to become economically active.
It is a partnership between Croydon Voluntary Action (who administer the project and who are targeting the over 50's), PJ's Community Services (targeting new business start-ups), Croydon Supplementary Education Project (targeting young people 16-24), DisabilityCroydon (targeting disabled people).
The aim is to increase the numbers of target groups accessing employment & enterprise or related services in order to enter training, employment and self employment over the next two years. It is funded by the Croydon Economic Development Company.
Activities include soft skills development so that customers have the confidence to access mainstream services, such as Job Centre Plus, Croydon College, CALAT and others, who are finding that these target groups are not making use of their services so much.
The project will see organisations such as DisabilityCroydon develop new ways of outreach and engagement with disabled people to help them towards becoming economically active (this includes returning to paid work, coming off certain benefits, registering as self employed etc.)
