Introduction to Alternative Formats Service
The Disability Discrimination Act, 1995 requires that service providers must make reasonable attempts to provide information in more accessible formats.DisabilityCroydon have been working closely with other local and national organisations to offer information in different formats other than the standard printed material.
Formats Provided
DisabilityCroydon have successfully provided information in the following formats:
- Braille
- Large print (as recommended by the RNIB)
- Audio Tape
- Data CD
- Easy Read Words
- Picture Supported Text
We are always open to investigate the possibility of providing information in other formats to those above, but advise that it can take a little longer to deliver some formats.
If you would like to register to receive correspondence from DisabilityCroydon in an alternative format please contact our office and ask a member of staff to complete a ‘Preferred Communication Request’ form.

Cost of Preparing and Supplying Information in Accessible Formats
DisabilityCroydon is pleased to offer preparation of text translated into alternative formats. This is a guide to the costs involved, however we are prepared to be flexible according to the size of community group requiring this service. BRAILLE
Assuming the information is provided to DisabilityCroydon on disk in text only format (no logos, boxes, tables, borders etc.):-
First copy £12 plus £5 per additional copy (of approx. 20 Braille pages). As a rough guide one page of A4 = approx. 3 pages of Braille. The cost of additional copies can be adjusted according to the number of Braille pages used. We can usually undertake this work almost immediately we receive the disk.

AUDIO TAPE
We charge £15 for the first tape and £2 for each additional copy. (C60). The information needs to be provided on disk in text only format (no logos, etc.) This service can usually be undertaken within one week.
For preparation by one of our readers we charge £15 per hour for reading onto tape plus £2 for each additional copy.(C60). The information needs to be provided on paper. This service will normally take two weeks.

LARGE PRINT
The service will cost £5 for the first 20 pages—specify enlarged font size needed. Additional copies charged at 20p. per page. We can usually undertake this service almost immediately.
